Unbeaten against Fulham!

If the recent form book doesn’t exactly inspire confidence, how about digging deeper and finding out that Fulham have never beaten Posh in a league fixture?!

Ok, the sides have only ever met in one season but it was certainly a special one for Posh. It was the 1991/92 season where Posh gained promotion to the second division for the first time in their history.

In January 1992, Tony Adcock scored twice and was joined by Worrell Sterling and Marcus Ebdon on the scoresheet to secure a 4-1 at London Road to move Posh to 11th.

By the time Adcock put away the winner at Craven Cottage in February, Posh were well on their way to an unlikely promotion push.

The win was part of a club record nine on the bounce and the season ended in promotion glory at Wembley against Stockport.

Sammie says that Fulham will not be given an easy ride

If like me, you watched Blackburn vs Fulham on Wednesday night to get a taste of what to expect today then that was one terrifying night. Fulham absolutely toyed with Tony Mowbray’s side but they were aided by a red card and a couple of handball decision missed by the usually impressive Jarrad Gillett. The final score did not make for good reading though for Posh fans and neither does the fact that Fulham have won all of their last five matches. They have collected 16 points on the road this season, a tally only bettered by Bournemouth (20) and they have scored 24 times in 8 matches. A day the form book certainly needs to be ripped up.

Today’s ref is Dean Whitestone. The Northampton based ref took charge of the 1-0 defeat to Preston in August and he will have John Busby as his fourth official. After his performance in the Middlesbrough match, that is the best place for him!

This is what the Championship is all about

Hello and welcome. This is what the Championship is truly about. Posh host a Fulham side who were mixing it with the the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea last season and look odds on for a return to that stage at the first time of asking. Posh look at home at this level on the hallowed turf of London Road and can they cause an upset in true Championship style? We will find out together from 3pm.
