Opening date and extended season announced to celebrate Peterborough Lido's 90th year
Peterborough Lido will open to the public in March for an extended 2026 season.
The Lido will celebrate its 90th year this season and to celebrate this, the pool’s opening date has been brought forward to Saturday March 28.
The season will then run right through until the end of September, almost twice as long as last year.
The Vivacity team, who operate the Lido, said: “This is great news, that we know our customers will be delighted to hear.

"The start of the Lido season is always an exciting time in our calendar and this year more than ever before we are going all out with special events and activities for the whole family to enjoy.
"We feel passionately about providing safe, fun, accessible swimming for everyone, but also want to shout about the Lido’s fantastic history and bring that to life!
"More announcements about the exciting events we are planning throughout the season will be coming soon!”
Councillor Zameer Ali, cabinet member for Communities, Poverty & Public Health, added: "It’s an exciting year of celebrations for one of our most iconic buildings, with a host of great events planned, and the covers will enable us to make it a much more efficient facility in the future.
"The release dates of the opening are always a great day for our clubs, swimmers and fans of the Lido and we have no doubt that Peterborough will support it throughout 2026 and beyond."
Clare Marshall who chairs the Lido Friends group, said: “Friends of Peterborough Lido are thrilled to hear that the Lido is opening earlier this year and for a longer season.
"Over the winter months, we have been busy meeting with PCC and Vivacity and sharing our members' ideas for the 90th birthday celebrations and are now really looking forward to being involved in the celebrations this season, including launching the sale of our 90 years of Peterborough Lido book of 100 pages of photographs, history and personal memories.
“We are so lucky to have this wonderful facility with such a rich heritage in the centre of our city and really want to encourage everyone to come down and swim there this season to be part of this 90th birthday year.”
Peterborough MP Andrew Pakes also shared his delight, stating: “I’m delighted that we now have a date in the diary for the start of this year’s Lido season. Last year the Lido saw more than 37,000 visitors, and I’m determined that we keep that momentum going and make 2026 an even bigger year for this much-loved pool.
“The Lido is one of the real jewels in our city’s crown, a place where families, friends, and neighbours come together. It’s vital that we keep using it and celebrating it so that this historic part of Peterborough’s story is still here for future generations to enjoy.”
