Peterborough United fans blast Fergie and Darragh as well as the players after Pompey defeat

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson bore the brunt of fans’ anger following the 2-0 defeat at the hands of Portsmouth yesterday (December 5).

Posh have now lost five of their last six competitive matches since topping the League One table at the end of October. They are now fifth.

Co-owner Darragh MacAnthony wasn’t immune from criticism either and nor were the players.

Until the best deal maker in the Football League parks his ego at the door and we move on from thinking selling a player every few years is ‘success’ we won’t ever progress significantly. Squad is rank beyond the first 11.

@poshforever2

Posh only play for 45 minutes a game, no leaders or fighters, error prone, afraid summer signings have not been that great.

@razorblue

Scratching around to find his best formation! Spends big money on players that he can’t get the best out of or fit into any system! Needs to get Taylor further forward and play two up front! Only so many ‘number tens’ you can have in a squad!

@davidwh1971

Do we have Paul Cook’s number?

@Tomo40posh

Dreadful again! Can only recall one shot in the first half and not even that many in the second. Shapeless, paceless, no creation. Can’t defend set pieces. At least the ref was excellent.

Fergie has had all the chances he could wish for. Been here too long and needs to move on.

Early days

@cheekylondoner

If Posh were a TV soap, which they appear to be, they would be taken off air by now.

@MichaelRtkows4

I remember the season that Fergie was sacked the last time at MK Dons. The performances were poor and getting worse by the game even though there had been significant investment. Sadly Fergie was then, and is now, a one trick pony, when it works its great but when ii doesn’t it’s poor.

@Tommochats

Shocking, awful performance, like most of the season, do we even look like a team?

How much longer is Fergie is going to be given? Just long enough to completely ruin any chance we had of promotion is my guess.

@g_skltn

Let’s face it, Fergie’s better than Carlsberg at losing runs. At least he’s lowered expectations now and if we’re honest, when have we seen a 90 minute performance this season?

@Mark_Nick_Uk

Ferguson said we haven’t become a bad team overnight. He’s quite right, we have been poor all season in the main.

@ianstimson1

On track to lose 16-18 games this season and that’s mid-table stats. Not sure where ‘operation vengeance’ went, or if it even started. Time to stop talking about how good we are, start proving it.

@steverodz

I’m missing the days when we used to implode at Christmas! We don’t even get that far anymore.

@The_real_Bats

It’s not a shock. We were top and still hadn’t played great football.
