Goalscorer Ryan Tafazolli is confident Peterborough United will see off Woking in their second round FA Cup replay at the ABAX Stadium next week.

Tafazolli shot Posh ahead with his second goal of the season yesterday (December 3), but the National League side deserved their late equaliser and came close to snatching a winner late on. Woking also saw a first-half penalty saved by Posh ‘keeper Jonathan Bond.

The replay is currently scheduled for Tuesday, December 12. The third round draw takes place live on BBC Two this evening (December 4, from 7pm).

“We had a gameplan for yesterday which we didn’t execute well enough,” Tafazolli stated. “But we’re happy to be in the third round draw and we’ll be confident we can show Woking why we are a top League One side. Our crowd is usually excellent and I’m sure we will come up with a plan good enough to beat them.

“Woking had a lot of possession yesterday, but didn’t create much. Possession doesn’t always mean a lot as Charlton had more possession in our previous match and yet we were much the better team. Leicester won the Premier League without dominating possession.

“We were resolute and resilient at the back, but Woking got a break of the ball in our area late on to score. Those things happen. It was a collection of errors for us, but we battled well back there. They had a big heavy lump up front who was a good outlet for them, but I enjoy those battles.

“I was delighted to score. I was probably due a goal. We work on that set piece a lot and the ball fell nicely for me.

“There are shocks every year in the FA Cup. League One clubs have been shocked this season.

“I don’t mind the fact we are playing Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday every week. I just enjoy playing.”
