Everything we know so far about the A47 bus and lorry crash at Thorney Toll

Here are the facts we know FOR SURE so far:

* Two men have been killed in the collision - more here

* The driver of the bus, a man in his 50s from Norfolk, and a passenger, a man in his 70s from Northampton, died at the scene.

* Police have named the pair as Michael Elcombe, 45, of Cley Road in Swaffham, Norfolk, and Brian Chapman, 76, of Cherry Road in Kettering. Tributes to the pair have been paid here.

* Emergency services were called at 7.10am to Thorney Road near Guyhirn

* A total of 20 people, who were travelling in the bus, were injured – nine are seriously injured and 11 have minor injuries. They have been taken to Peterborough City Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kings Lynn

* Inspector Langwith said none of the seriously injured passengers were wearing seat belts at the time, but could not state whether this included the driver.

* The crash involved a First Group double decker bus and a Brett's Transport lorry.

* The crash took place outside the Brett's Transport depot.

* The road remains closed and is likely to remain closed until this evening - more details on the timeframe here.

* Steve Wickers, Managing Director at First Eastern Counties said: “As confirmed earlier today, one of our buses was involved in a fatal road traffic incident with a lorry on the A47 in Guyhirn. Two people have lost their lives in this incident, one being a driver based in our Kings Lynn depot. I am shocked and saddened by what has happened. Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased and we will be providing as much support to them as we can through this difficult time.”

* A spokesman for Bretts said: “We acknowledge there has been an incident on the A47 this morning involving one of our vehicles just outside our premises. At this stage we are giving the emergency services our full support and co-operation.”
