Police target ‘more enclosed areas’ in search for missing Peterborough teenager Bernadette
The hunt for Bernadette began on July 21 when her mum Sarah reported her missing after not seeing her daughter for three days.
On September 11, a ‘no-body’ murder investigation was launched by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit.

The searches then moved on to garages in Walton, as well as countryside on Cowbit, before they returned to Peterborough, and searched land between Gunthorpe and Newborough two weeks ago.
Police divers also carried out searches in the River Welland.
On Monday (October 12) Police confirmed that their current searches had concluded and that a review into the investigation and the direction of any searches was ongoing.
In the mean time, Bernadette’s parents appeared, via video link, at Peterborough Crown Court last month, charged with her murder.

Police have now confirmed that a fresh round of searched have begun, with the focus on more enclosed areas, including abandoned buildings, on land already searched.
A Police spokesperson said: “We are reviewing our search parameters. We have targeted some more enclosed areas including some abandoned buildings in the area we were previously searching. This has not required as big a search team as we had when we were covering the more rural areas.
“We will be continuing to search and this may involve more officers again once the targeted locations have been completed.”
