Cathedral prayers said for Bernadette as police divers join searches to find missing Peterborough teenager

Police divers have been searching waterways in Cowbit as the hunt for missing Peterborough teenager Bernadette Walker continues.

Searches were started in Cowbit yesterday, as officers hunted through open ground for the 17-year-old.

Today divers were seen searching through in the River Welland in Cowbit.

Officers were also seen continuing to examine garages in Churchfield Road, Walton.

Officers are searching for Bernadette - but also any evidence of what may have happened to her.

The investigation is focussing on July 18, as that is believed to be the last time she was seen alive. She was reported missing by her mum three days later.

The police searches have been taking place today as Bernadette’s parents appeared at Peterborough Crown Court charged with her murder.

Sarah and Scott Walker, of Century Square, Millfield, did not enter a plea at this morning’s hearing.

Last night clergy at Peterborough Cathedral said prayers for Bernadette at Evening Prayer.

When she went missing, she was described as medium build, her hair was half brown, half gingery blonde with a streak of pink. She has facial piercings and two homemade tattoos. She wears glasses and is around 5ft 6in.

Anyone with information that can help the investigation is asked to contact Cambridgeshire police on 101.
