Bernadette Walker murder investigation: Timeline of events

Searches of garages in Peterborough and land in Cowbitt in the Fens has been taking place today as police try and find out what has happened to missing 17-year-old Bernadette Walker.

The murder investigation was launched at the weekend, two months after 17-year Bernadette was last seen alive.

Bernadette was reported missing by her parents Sarah and Scott Walker on July 21 after she had not been seen for three days.

The Peterborough Telegraph ran an appeal to try and find Bernadette on July 23.

On Saturday, September 12, Cambridgeshire police said they had launched ‘a no body’ murder investigation into her disappearance, arresting a man in his 50s - later confirmed to be Bernadette’s father, Scott.

The following day, on Sunday, September 13, police said they had arrested a second person, a woman in her 30s - later confirmed to be Bernadette’s mother, Sarah, on Saturday evening.

Police were seen searching the home in Century Square, Millfiled, where the Walker’s lived over the weekend.

On Monday, September 14, Cambridgeshire police charged Sarah Walker, 37, and Scott Walker, 50, both of Century Square in Millfield, Peterborough with murder.

They appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court later on Monday morning. They are due to appear at Peterborough Crown Court tomorrow morning for a preliminary hearing.

Neighbours in Century Square spoke to The Peterborough Telegraph of their shock following the weekend’s events.

Today (Tuesday, September 15), searches started at three garages in Churchfield Road, Walton, Peterborough, and in open land at Cowbitt.
