A tribal homecoming for Peterborough duo Cosmic Lama

A Peterborough-based electronic duo dedicated to the evolution of psychedelic sound have lined up an intimate Peterborough gig later this month.

Cosmic Lama – Jordan Young and Ben Robertson – blend complex synthesis with a signature sense of humor and flair, to carve a niche between the deep grooves of psybient and the driving energy of trance.

Known for a live set that emphasizes improvisation, they are rapidly becoming a must-see act for the UK's psychedelic underground – and will appear at the Here We Aren’t studios in Godrich Square on April 25 as part of their Cosmic Lama: The Blast Off Tour.

Jordan explains: “ Cosmic Lama is an experimental project rooted in a deep musical heritage and a long-standing background within the UK Pagan and Spiritual communities. Our music seeks to find a delicate balance where modern digital sounds meet the ancient rhythms of tribal cultures and traditional drum circles. We call the Peterborough Fenland our home currently, so this is a tribal homecoming for us.”

The duo perform on a multitude of instruments including didgeridoos, flutes, drums, guitars, synthesisers, and Amazonian percussion to create an intimate journey through sound.

Influences include the likes of Shpongle, Younger Brother, and Pink Floyd, the result is something positioned between a spiritual experience and a live gig. Boomtown sensation Bric A Brac will be supporting.

“What makes this specific event so special,” adds Jordan, “is the setting; with a capacity of only 50 people, it is a massive departure from the large festival stages and major psychedelic events we usually frequent. This intentional shift to an intimate space allows us to connect deeply with the audience and create a transformative, unforgettable sonic experience.”
