Peterborough City Rowing Club’s junior squad proved they are among the best in the country by returning from the prestigious National Junior Sculling Regatta with a haul of top-10 finishes and a standout silver medal.

The club’s star at the regatta at the Eton College Rowing Centre at Dorney Lake in Windsor was Beatrice Gregory, who delivered a masterclass in the Women’s J15 Single Sculls. After a gruelling time trial, Gregory battled through the pack in the A Final to secure a superb 2nd place finish in a time of 08:46.59. Her silver medal adds to an incredible season, following her recent success representing the Eastern Region.

In the boys’ events, the duo of Thor Read Moreira Lima and Jack Bosma showed grit in a highly competitive Open J15 Double Sculls field. The pair fought hard to take 2nd place in the B Final, securing an impressive 8th place overall in the national rankings.

George Dennis, teamed up with Matas Lebed in the Open J16 Double Sculls. The duo rowed with clinical precision to take 2nd place in the B Final, securing a formidable 8th place overall in the UK rankings

In one of the most encouraging performances of the day, Josh Turner marked a significant personal milestone by competing in his first-ever 2km national race. Stepping up to the full Olympic distance is a daunting task for any young athlete.

The club’s strength in depth was further highlighted by the Women’s J16 Quad of Millie Yule, Amelia Williams, Molly Gilbert, and Hannah Fitzjohn. The crew rowed a brave race to finish 6th in their B Final, proving they can hold their own against the UK's powerhouse rowing schools and clubs.

City coach Nell McLenahan said: “The junior coaching team are extremely proud of all our athletes. These results were a testament to the hard work the athletes put in on every single session and their winter training has paid off. Seeing Peterborough City juniors consistently represented in national finals shows just how far our junior programme has come.”

Other notable performances included Jasmin Chesher, who competed strongly in the W J17 Single Sculls, continuing her upward trajectory this season.
