Posh got back to winning ways in midweek after six straight defeats and are now looking to take that momentum to get their league campaign back on track.

League Two play-off winners Port Vale are in town and they have settled well. They are unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions and sit 13th in the table, taking 12 points from their opening nine games.

Posh have also taken 12 points from their opening nine and need to kick on after losing their last four in the league.

Bristol Rovers vs Acrington

Morecambe vs Cambridge

Sheffield Wednesday vs Wycombe

Shrewsbury vs Burton

Tomorrow

Plymouth vs Ipswich

Posh have a mostly fully-fit squad to choose from. Ronnie Edwards is still away with England and Harvey Cartwright is around a week away fron returning from his latest thigh injury.

Dan Butler came through well from Tuesday night but he will not be thrown into another game so soon as Posh manage his return to first-team action.

It looks like McCann will stick with the 4-3-3 with Joe Ward battling Nathan Thompson for the right back slot and Jonson Clarke-Harris and Jack Marriott going head to head to start up-front.

Today has the potential to be a milestone day for Joe Ward. He currently sits on 199 appearances for the club having joined in January 2018 from Woking.

After the departure of Idris Kanu, he became the club’s longest-serving player and remains one of its best.

Its very likely he will get on the pitch and given the switch back to a 4-3-3, it will most likely be at right back.

McCann speaks ahead of the game

Anthony Backhouse is the ref this afternoon. He hasn’t taken charge of a Posh game since January 2020 when Posh won 2-0 at Accrington Stanley. Posh are on a bad run of refs so a let’s see if that changes. Usually, one that you haven’t heard of is a good thing.

Injury scare for Edwards

Posh’s is well documented but Port Vale are looking strong and have not lost any of their last five in all competitions. They are one of three teams level with Posh on 12 points and only sit behind courtesy of their -2 goal difference.

They also won in midweek, beating Shrewsbury 4-0.

Last 5

Shrewsbury 0-4 Port Vale

Port Vale 2-1 Shrewsbury

Barnsley 1-1 Port Vale

Port Vale 2-2 Cheltenham

Port Vale 1-0 Stockport

Big one for Posh. After the Fleetwood debacle, Posh need to get back to winning ways after losing all of their last 4 league games.

Newly promoted Port Vale seem to have settled well though to life at a new level and are currently level on points with Posh so it may not be that easy.
