The last time Derby came to town

27 Oct 2012 was the last time Derby made the trip to London Road and it was Posh who were rampant. Michael Bostwick scored the opener before a certain Saido Berahino came off the bench to score twice and move Posh out of the relegation zone. Just as a win would do today but we needn’t panic about the table just two games in. Would be nice though.

It’s been a torrid summer for Derby, ever since Erik Alonso’s takeover (probably for the better, even still) fell through, Mel Morris has been unwilling to continue to significantly fund the club he is so clearly trying to sell.

They managed to stay in the league after a long legal battle with the EFL ended with no points deduction but they are still under a transfer embargo that limits to them free transfers, under a strict wage cap and a limited squad size.

They are currently maxed out and there were stories of players being made to sign blank contracts ahead on the Thursday before the season started and their squad is make up with a large amount of youngsters. Especially since Rooney’s tackle in training put star man Jason Knight out for 12 weeks.

This looks like a great chance to Posh to pickup a first win but Derby still have the likes of Curtis Davies and David Marshall from at the back, so are not simply pushovers.

Posh are going back to basics
