It looks like Leicester City have released a former Peterborough United Academy, but not before his old club cashed in
A former Peterborough United Academy player has been released by Leicester City.
Wanya Marçal left Posh aged 12 to join the Foxes Academy after his family relocated from Peterborough to Leicester. Posh did a deal involving future payments for a winger who is now 23. The club have now confirmed they did receive a bonus payment based on first-team appearances, presumably 10 of them.

Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony talked about a future payment for Marçal on his ‘Hard Truth’ Podcast when he had made 9 Leicester appearances.
Marçal ultimately made 10 first-team appearances for the Foxes, but only one in the last two years, as an 89th minute substitute, in a third round FA Cup win at Cheltenham Town in January. The former Arthur Mellows Village College student spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Dutch second-tier club De Graafschap in the Netherlands on a season-long loan.
Marçal scored on his second Championship start for Leicester in a 2-1 win against Cardiff City in August, 2023. He has played age group football for Portugal.
