Bromley boss gutted by late sucker punch thrown by Peterborough United
Bromley caretaker-boss Byron Webster called a football a ‘cruel game’ after Peterborough United snatched a late 1-1 League One draw at Hayes Lane on Saturday.
Webster was in charge for the first time after the shock midweek sacking of double promotion-winning boss Andy Woodman and came within a minute of overseeing a win before Posh sub Vernon Masara popped up with a well-taken equaliser.

Webster told his club’s media team: “It’s a cruel game. It was a great day for us apart from a late sucker punch. Everything we asked the boys to do they did. Their work rate was so impressive and we restricted Peterborough to very little.
"And when you work as hard as we did you get chances to score and we had a few today. We can’t give ourselves too many pats on the back though as we have another important game at MK on Tuesday."
The bottom four remained unchanged after this draw and 2-1 away defeats for bottom two Barnsley and Wigan Athletic at Reading and Huddersfield Town respectively. Posh are fourth from bottom, a point ahead of Bromley, but it’s possible they could sink to next-to bottom on Tuesday night.
Posh have a Carabao Cup last-16 game at Bradford City that night when Bromley are at Stadium MK and Wigan are at Leicester City. Both struggling teams would need to win to get past Posh.
Tuesday League One games: Leicester v Wigan, Luton v Doncaster, MK Dons v Bromley, Oxford v Stockport, Sheff Wed v Cambridge.
