Peterborough United are looking for a third straight home win as they host Coventry this afternoon (January 15, 3pm).

After wins against Bristol Rovers and Millwall, Posh are looking for a hattrick and to close the three-point gap to Reading in 21st place.

Coventry come into the game struggling for league form, having not won any of their last six but the in-form Matt Godden will lead the line for Mark Robins’ side.

Early possession for Coventry but Posh pressing well. Mumba looks bright straight away, picks up and drives forward.

Here come the teams

and Dembele is with them!

Could be something, could not but looks like Dembele has just limped off during the warm-up. He’s down the tunnel at the moment.

Posh have not beaten Coventry in any of their last 6 attempts and had a difficult night at the Ricoh in September. They battled well in the first half but the game was gone in 7 second half minutes. After being level at 0-0 in the 57th minute, it was 3-0 in the 64th minute.

Hamer got things started with a tap-in after pinball in the box, Gyokeres added a second after some poor Posh marking and a lucky deflection gave them the third. Posh will be hoping to do better this time out and looking to produce better being back at home and gaining more experience at Championship level.

Posh have been boosted by the arrival three new signings this week. Morton is not fit to start so it looks to be a choice of Szmodics, Dembele and Clarke-Harris up-front but Bali Mumba looks a certainty to start after his fantastic goalscoring debut on Saturday. Given Posh’s diamond system, the wing backs become vital so having quality options is important. Barry Fry said this week that he was signed as a right back but he looks most likely to start on the left today in place of Tomlinson, who he replaced at half-time last week.

The big choice appears to be do Posh bring in Benda, he has clearly made a big effort to be here, with both him and his agent taking a pay cut to get the deal done. Cornell hasn’t necessarily done anything wrong but if you have brought Benda in as an upgrade, I see no reason he should not start today.
