Almost £5,000 raised to support Nepal-Tibet flood victims as Peterborough restaurants announce new fundraising events

Almost £5,000 has been raised to support the relief effort and families affected by the devastating Nepal-Tibet floods.

On Wednesday (August 25), a humanitarian crisis began when large-scale landslides and flash floods hit the area on the border of Nepal and Tibet in South Asia.

The death toll has now passed 1,000 and over 4,500 are still missing following the natural disaster authorities in Nepal believe to have been caused by a large block of ice falling from a mountain on the Tibetan side and bringing down rocks and a large amount of water with it.

Kathmandu Lounge on Church Street, in the city centre, quickly launched an appeal to support and victims and has issued a heartfelt thank you to all of the supporters after over £4,700 was raised in less than a week.
