Burton Albion boss disappointed a wonder goal didn't win the game for his team at Peterborough United

Burton Albion boss Gary Bowyer was crestfallen after his side failed to hold on for a League One win at Peterborough United on Saturday.

Bowyer was particularly disappointed for substitute Gbemi Arubi whose brilliant 90th minute strike from the halfway line didn’t turn out to be the winning goal, Instead Posh sub Matty Garbett made it 2-2 in added time from much closer range.

Posh had opened the scoring in the second minutes with Burton equalising before half time.

“To come away with only a point is really disappointing,” Bowyer admitted. “We scored a goal that was worthy of winning any game and it should have won this one. We immediately missed another chance to score, but we should have kept the ball in the corner better than we did which would have seen out the game.

"That’s down to our lack of experience. We were playing against a team who can bring on players who cost a lot of money like Brandon Khela and Danny Ormerod. We can’t do that, but we played well after a poor start.

"We gave away a poor goal early on by not stopping a cross and not following a run towards goal, but our response was good.

“But to get in the position we did and not to win the game was disappointing.”
