WATCH: Banned teenager driver arrested near A1 after Police Dog Ghost sniffs him out

A disqualified driver who repeatedly ignored court-imposed driving bans has been given yet another ban from the roads.

Police received intelligence that Fabio Sanches-Kuiper was back behind the wheel of a BMW on 23 September.

At 11.20pm they witnessed him get into the driver’s seat at Brampton Hut Services.

Officers from the Road Policing Unit deployed the stinger on the A141 but Sanches-Kuiper failed to stop and drove on towards Brampton before dumping the vehicle and running into the bushes.

With the help of Police Dog Ghost, the 19-year-old was arrested.

Now Cambridgeshire Police have released video footage of the moment he was put into handcuffs after his arrest.

At Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Monday (19 October), Sanches-Kuiper, of Dovecote Avenue, Great Cambourne, was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, after pleading guilty to two counts of driving without insurance, two counts of driving while disqualified and failing to stop.

He was also given a six-month curfew to remain home between 11pm and 6am for six months and disqualified from driving for four years.

PC Colin Dyer, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “Despite being disqualified from driving and previously serving a prison sentence for the offence, Sanches-Kuiper made the decision to get behind the wheel yet again and on one occasion attempted to evade officers.

“Driving bans are imposed to protect the public and reduce the risk posed by dangerous drivers. His repeated offending showed a complete disregard for those restrictions.”
