Hunt for missing Peterborough teen Bernadette to continue ‘until at least end of week’ as search operation enters second month

Searches for missing Peterborough teenager Bernadette Walker will continue ‘until at least the end of this week,’ police have confirmed.

The hunt for 17-year-old Bernadette has entered its second month, with officers now moving the search to land between Newborough and Gunthorpe.

Cambridgeshire police remained tight lipped on whether anything of significance had been found during the hunt, which has moved from garages in Walton to open land near Cowbit, Spalding, and back to Peterborough.

A spokesman for police said; “Searches are ongoing in the Gunthorpe area and are expected to continue until at least the weekend.”

Bernadette’s parents, Sarah Walker (37) and Scott Walker (50), both of Century Square, Millfield appeared at Peterborough Crown Court via video link last month charged with her murder.

A trial date was sent for March next year, with the next court appearance scheduled for next month.

Bernadette was reported missing by mum Sarah on July 21 after she had not been seen for three days.

Police are still appealing for information to try and find out what happened to her, with the appeal focussing on July 18 - when Bernadette was last seen alive.

Anyone with information that can help the investigation is asked to contact Cambridgeshire police on 101.
