GCSE Results: Ormiston Bushfield Academy, Peterborough

Pupils and staff at Ormiston Bushfield Academy are celebrating their GCSE results today '“ the best ever recorded at the academy.

Pupils at the academy in Peterborough achieved their best-ever results, with significant improvement across key subjects.

Overall, 60% of students achieved a Grade 4 or higher in English and in maths, with a 4 defined by the Government as a pass (equivalent to the old Grade C). This is a three-percentage point increase on last year’s figure.

Alongside the significant progress achieved across the board, the results in English were particularly impressive again this year, with 73% of students achieving at least a Grade 4 or above - a five percentage point increase on last year. Additionally more half of students (52%) achieved a Grade 5 or higher in English, defined by the Government as a “good pass”.

Record results were also achieved in maths, with 65% of students achieving at least a Grade 4 or above, another increase on last year’s figure.

The academy is incredibly proud of all of its students, and amongst the many successes Ormiston Bushfield gave special mention to:

Kacper Kozak who achieved the top Grade 9 in four subjects including maths, biology, chemistry and physics, as well as an A* in Polish.

Ben Cherry who has secured a Grade 9 in maths and history, a Grade 8 in biology, chemistry and physics, a distinction in Business Enterprise, alongside a Grade 5 in 10 other subjects.

Blanka Jarmoszko who achieved a Grade 9 in maths, biology, chemistry and physics, as well as an A* in Polish and Product Design, and Grade 7s and above in 11 additional subjects.

Ellie Peacock who is celebrating receiving a Grade 9 in English Literature, biology and chemistry, alongside a Grade 8 in maths, French, English Language and history. She secured a Grade 7 and above in her 11 other subjects.

All of these students will now progress on to the Academy’s ‘High Flyers’ programme, to prepare them to apply to the most challenging and demanding University courses in the country.
