Local care home embraces International Flower Day

Residents at Bayleaf Care Home in Huntingdon celebrated International Flower Day with a visit to Huntingdon Garden Centre.
International Flower Day, which took place on January 19th, promotes the psychological boost that flowers can give to people. From growing and nurturing plants and flowers, to gifting flowers to show love and appreciation, and sometimes just the simple act of admiring their beauty – flowers have the power to make someone’s day.
Residents Joyce Walters and Freda Smith were accompanied by staff from the home as they had a tour of the garden centre before choosing flowers to take back to the home with them. The visit ended with a well-earned hot drink and a home-made cake before they all boarded the home’s minibus and headed back to Bayleaf.
Katie Wilkinson, General Manager at Bayleaf Care Home said: “We are so happy to have been able to take Joyce and Freda to see the flowers at the Garden Centre. Because of the time of year, we don’t have many flowers in our garden at the moment so it is important that our residents are able to enjoy visiting local wildlife as often as possible. We very much look forward to taking more residents to the garden centre in the very near future”
