Amazon’s fulfilment centre in Peterborough welcomed employees’ family and friends to the site for a family day to celebrate the engineering team’s work this year.

The engineering team plays an important role in keeping the fulfilment centre running smoothly, maintaining the equipment and systems that process customer orders. The family day gave friends and families an opportunity to see behind the scenes and learn more about what happens at Amazon in Peterborough.

The event included a tour of the site, followed by games and snacks for families to enjoy together, giving colleagues an opportunity to celebrate their achievements with the people who support them outside work.
Kareem Edwards, Site Leader at Amazon in Peterborough, said: “The family day was a great opportunity to recognise the work our engineers do and thank the families who support them. It was great to see so many people on site getting a real look at what goes on behind the scenes.”

Grzegorz Zastawny, an engineer at Amazon in Peterborough, added: “It meant a lot to show my family where I work and what we do every day. The kids loved the games, and it was a really nice way to finish off a busy quarter with the team.”
Community donations and employee volunteering are just two of the ways Amazon supports the communities where it operates. Amazon co-founded the Multibank initiative with former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown to support families in need. The initiative has donated more than 12 million surplus goods to over 800,000 families across Scotland, Wales, Greater Manchester, London, Tees Valley and Birmingham. This year, the Multibank will send 1 million orders to families across the UK.
Amazon has supported more than one million students across the UK with free STEM education programmes through Amazon Future Engineer and helps community organisations transport meals and other essentials to families in need through its pro bono logistics programme, Amazon Local Good.
Amazon partners with Comic Relief and is the official home of the charity’s iconic Red Nose. Together with its employees, customers, and partners, Amazon has raised over £4.8 million to fund projects that support people across the UK, and around the world.
