Young people can light the way to Eye Village Lantern Parade

Young people aged 12 - 16 are being invited to get creative over half term and help bring some extra light to Peterborough’s Eye Village.

Gets Green is a creative club run by community-arts organisation Peterborough Presents and has grown and evolved over the past two years. Youngsters can get hands-on with lantern-making, with four creative sessions running from October 26-28, 10am – 3pm.

Using natural materials and working together they will create lanterns and illuminated display that will feature in the Eye Village Lantern Parade on February 27 next year.

The workshops are part of the build-up to the Parade, which is being co- produced by Light Whale International and the Eye Village community, with support from Peterborough Presents and local partners.

Light Whale International — the artistic team behind the last two parades — have been working with the Eye community, Eye Creative Hub and other partners over the last two years to develop plans for the next parade. The parade’s theme will be ‘Common Ground’, inspired by the land, farming and growing in and around Eye.

There is no need to attend all four sessions — just book for the ones you can make.
