Red letter day for Parkway as top team title followed a 'grand slam' singles success as the Bowls England Championships

Saturday was certainly a red letter day for the city's Parkway club as in the space of a few hours at Leamington, Tristan Morton was crowned Bowls England national singles champion and the club won the prestigious Top Club title.

Parkway defeated Cheltenham 3-2 in the final after wins against Hampshire's Boscombe Cliff 4-1 and Leicestershire's Kingscroft 3-2.

Tristan Morton is the new Bowls England four-bowl singles champion.

The England international defeated Leicestershire's Martin Allsop 21-13 in the final at Leamington today.

It means he has now completed the so called 'Grand Slam' having already won the two-bowl singles, pairs, triples, fours and now the blue riband four-bowl singles.

With the World Championships being held at Leamington next year, his performance must put him in the reckoning for selection.

Brampton's Jorja Jackson and Michelle Coleman claimed the women's pairs in emphatic fashion for Hunts.

In their six matches, they totalled 120 shots as against 52, which included a 21-8 win against Cumbria in the final.

It was sweet compensation for young Jorja, who had been beaten in the final of the junior singles and the semi-finals of the junior pairs.
