Peterborough City rowers at prestigious Henley Regatta, while others were on a golden run in St Ives
Two Peterborough City Rowing Club crews qualified for the prestigious Henley Women’s Regatta, one of the premier events in the domestic rowing calendar.
Competing on the world-famous Henley-on-Thames course, the club was represented in both the Aspirational Single and Aspirational Quad categories.

The Aspirational Quad featured Sarah Watson, Gina Gould, Claire Widdowson and Bianca Manganiello. Despite a spirited performance, the crew was knocked out in the first round by a fast-paced boat from Furnival Sculling Club.
In the Aspirational Single category, Eleanor Dean took to the water. She faced a tough draw in her opening heat, coming up against a highly competitive sculler from Rob Roy Boat Club. While Dean rowed with great technical discipline, her opponent proved too strong on the day, eventually progressing through the draw to reach the event final.

City also enjoyed a highly successful day at the St Ives Regatta with the women’s squads securing four wins across multiple age categories.
In the sweep rowing events, the club found success in the Women’s Masters F Coxed Fours through Andy Merchant, Denise Parker, Julie Evison-Williams and Kate Crosby. Ian Davis was the cox.
The club's scullers kept the momentum going with a hat-trick of victories. Evison-Williams secured her second trophy of the weekend, teaming up with Audrey Jones to win the Women’s Masters E Double Sculls.
Joan Heath and Anita Carter put on a masterclass in the Women’s Masters G Double Sculls comfortably outpacing their rivals and the golden run concluded in the senior category, where Hannah Pape and Keely Watson delivered a winning performance in the Women's Double Sculls.
This Saturday (June 27) Peterborough City host their annual Junior Regatta at Thorpe Meadows. Clubs from all over country take part with some travelling from Norwich, Windsor and Stratford Upon Avon. The action starts at 8.30am with a scheduled finish time of 6.30pm.
