City boxer announced his arrival to the professional ranks with a dramatic debut win
City boxer Shae Gowler made a dramatic entrance to the professional ranks
To the delight of his cheering fans he knocked out opponent Hampshire’s Stefan Vincent barely two minutes into round one.

Gowler and his supporters made a 160-mile round trip to Doncaster for his debut fight and upwards of 1500 people saw the super lightweight’s impressive debut performance.
“I’d travelled up the day before,” Gowler (20) said. “We couldn’t risk any delays. I made the exact weight. I felt confident because I knew my training camp had been thorough. We hadn’t left any stone unturned.

"The result confirmed that I’ve joined the paid ranks at the right time with an aggressive, front-foot boxer-puncher style that makes for exhilarating professional fights. My debut proved that’s the case, although I’m obviously going to face tougher opponents. I particularly want to thank my coaches Ry Vickers and Qais Ashfaq and cutman Aiden Doyle for making this win possible.”
Peterborough born and bred Gowler was a high achieving amateur.
He added: “I took up the sport aged nine and the highlights of my amateur career included winning a national title and a win at the Haringey Box Cup — Europe’s biggest international Box Cup. I also represented England at international tournaments and won 50 of my 65 amateur contests.”
“I appreciate the ongoing generosity of my sponsors which means that I’m able to concentrate on my boxing full time.
