He’s the 21st player in the last 23 years to score on his Posh debut so a perfect time to look back and find out what happened to others who started their careers at London Road with a goalscoring bang.
Some turned into damp squibs, but others went on to enjoy excellent careers at Posh and elsewhere.
13. LIAM DICKINSON
Striker Dickinson (pictured) signed for Posh on loan from Brighton in February, 2010 and scored on his debut, a 3-1 Championship win over Ipswich Town at London Road. Scored three goals in nine Posh apprearances before returning to Brighton. Played for Barnsley, Walsall, Rochdale and Southend before drifting into non league football. Now retired.
14. ALAN WHITE
Centre-back White joined Posh on loan from Notts County in March 2007 and netted on his debut (pictured), a 3-0 League Two win over Hereford at London Road. He went on to score 3 goals in just 7 Posh appearances before returning to County. Went on to play for Darlington, Luton, Hereford and Gateshead before retiring.
15. RICHARD BUTCHER
Midfielder Butcher (pictured) was one of several players to follow manager Keith Alexander from Lincoln to Posh in July, 2006 and he scored on his debut in a 4-0 win over Bristol Rovers on the opening day of the 2006-07 League Two season. Scored 5 Posh goals in 51 appearances before moving to Notts County, Lincoln and finally Macclesfield. Sadly passed away suddently when a Macclesfield player in 2011 when just 29.
16. SIMON YEO
Striker Yeo was another to follow Alexander to Posh from Lincoln in July, 2006 and he also scored on his debut in the 4-0 home win over Bristol Rovers on the opening day of the 2006-07 season. Scored twice in 16 Posh appearances before moving on to Chester, Bury and Macclesfield before retiring.
