Cornell has started his Posh career well and maybe one day he will break into our top 20 list of players to have played for both clubs.
Those who didn’t make the cut (mostly for obvious reasons) include Ian Benjamin, Neil Freeman, Wakeley Gage, Pay Gavin, Kelvin Langmead, David Longhurst, David Rennie, Gary Sargeant, Leroy Constantine, Kane Ferdinand, Eric Brookes, Junior Morias, Harry Beautyman, Derrick Christie, Louie Donowa, Scott McGleish and Nana Ofori-Twumasi.
Here are the PT picks in descending order. Do you agree with our number one?

9. 12th: PHIL CHARD
One of the few on this list who had more success at Cobblers than Posh. Chard was a Posh youth team graduate who was converted from a midfielder to a defender by manager John Wile. He was an ace penalty taker, but a steady rather than spectacular performer throughout 199 appearances (21 as a sub) which yielded 21 goals. Chard joined Cobblers in 1985 and was playing in midfield again when his new club romped to the Fourth Division title in 1986-87. Chard went on to play for Wolves before returning to Cobblers. He played over 300 times for Cobblers and also managed the club briefly.

10. 11th: RAY SMITH
This speedy forward was an unsung hero of the all-conquering 1960-61 Posh Fourth Division title-winning side. He missed just one game that season and scored 17 goals which included two hat-tricks. Legendary boss Jimmy Hagan surprisingly transfer-listed Smith in 1962 and he moved to Cobblers, promptly helping them to the Third Division title. Smith scored one of his seven goals for Cobblers in a 4-0 win at Posh on the penultimate Saturday of the season. He retired from football during the following season. Smith scored 33 goals in 103 Football League appearances for Posh after netting 83 times for the club in 133 Midland League games.

11. 10th: TREVOR QUOW
One of the best-ever graduates from a Posh youth team, Quow's career was rocked by three broken legs which many felt stopped him making it to the First Division. Quow kept bouncing back though and managed 234 Posh appearances (14 as a sub), scoring 22 goals. He was selected to the PFA's 1983-84 Division Four team despite starting only 24 games. Quow moved to Gillingham from Posh in 1986 and played at Priestfield for two-and-a-half seasins before spending a similar time at Cobblers.

12. 9th: BILLY HAILS
Hails, like Ray Smith, was a star of the Posh team that won the 1960-61 Fourth Division title, and, like Smith, he was discarded by manager Jimmy Hagan in 1962 so joined Cobblers in time to help them win the 1962-63 Third Division title! Winger Hails scored 53 goals in 107 Football League appearances for Posh including 21 in the title campaign. Hails also scored 81 goals in 211 Midland League appearances for Posh. Hails left Cobblers for Luton in 1964 and went on to become Posh physio and caretaker-manager at London Road for 13 games in the 1978-79 season.
