The team will always come first to Peterborough United goalkeeper, one of the undoubted stars of a disappointing season
Personal praise is of no interest to Peterborough United goalkeeper Alex Bass.
One of the undoubted stars of last season is all about the team so he wasn’t happy with a second successive 18th place finish in League One.

Things needs to be different for the 2026-27 campaign and the early signs are good. Bass himself will be pushed for his place by new arrival Collin Adeng Ndi from Southend United.
Bass told the.posh.com: “I don't like to talk about my own performances last season because of how the season went for us as a team. It wasn't a good season for the club.
"This season is about starting well, hitting the ground running, hopefully remaining injury-free unlike last year, and seeing how we get on. The squad will come together and hopefully it will be a more positive campaign for everyone involved. That is certainly the aim.
"Pre-season and the trip away to Spain has been enjoyable so far. It has been back to learning and the manager has been drumming into us a lot more details and instructions, while driving into us the importance of high standards to make sure last season doesn't happen again
"Collin has started really well, works really hard and looks a good goalkeeper, so it is going to be a good union. We will push each other as much as we can and hopefully we will learn from each other.
"When a new person comes in it is great to see what attributes they have. He is a different kind of goalkeeper to me so I am looking forward to learning different aspects of his game and hopefully he will feel the same about me.”
Like many Posh players Bass (28) did private pre-season training before returning to work with the rest of the squad.
He added: “Goalkeeper fitness is very much different to an outfield player. It doesn't matter what you do in the off season, when you start diving around and getting up constantly, you can't replicate that.
"It is a lot of short, sharp stuff and a lot of bike work as you don't do the running that the rest of the lads do. I actually like to have a few sessions with other professional goalkeepers during the summer as that keeps you sharp.
"As a goalkeeper you need to stay switched on with your hands. The work we have done since we have been back has been really good and enjoyable though.”
