The nominations for a new Peterborough United number 6 are in! Any you fancy?
The Peterborough Telegraph, with the help of Peterborough United fans on social media site X, have found some potential new signings.
We asked for nominations for a number 6 to replace Archie Collins and received some interesting, optimistic and amusing replies.

The name of Ryan Wintle, who helped Cardiff City win automatic promotion from League One last season when playing as a defensive central midfielder, a la Archie Collins at Posh, emerged on Friday. Wintle was due to join Oxford United, but a transfer embargo at the Kassam Stadium has put that move on hold so is it possible to gazump a team likely to challenge for promotion to get a player who could help make it happen again?
Former Posh midfielder Louis Reed – one of the million signings Steve Evans made in his only summer at London Road in 2018– was the choice of @saunds98 and he’s certainly turned into a very strong League One player at Mansfield Town. He can sit deep and ping passes with great accuracy and scores the odd banging goal. So far, so Collins, but he probably wouldn’t offer the same level of defensive expertise at Collins. Unlikely Mansfield would sell though and unlikely Posh would want to spend. ‘Not sure why we got rid of Louis in the first place,’ said @saunds 98. ‘I’d take him back any day of the week.’

Aidan Borland of Aston Villa was the nomination from @shermfirm who says the 19 year-old defensive midfielder is ready for League One after spending the second half of last season on loan at Swindon Town in League Two. Borland helped Villa win the Fa Youth Cup in the 2024-25 season.
Dan Phillips is a tough midfielder at League One rivals Stevenage and the choice of @danmed0208. Posh could probably out-pay Stevenage, while Cameron Humphreys was the tip from @Filmedbyhaz. Humphreys scored a splendid winning goal for Huddersfield at London Road last season when on loan from Ipswich Town.
An interesting comment arrived from @davidwh1971 who predicted that Tom O’Connor would eventually play as a 6 for Posh, and an eminently sensible comment came from @_sophieox who said Posh should re-sign Collins!
As with many topics Posh fans become involved in there was a cynical suggestion from @ChestneyS who said ‘we will probably sign Billy B****** from the Conference North.
