Portsmouth lined up with a very defensive wingback formation in the first half and asked Posh to break them down. Burrows produced the moment of magic needed with a cross from a corner which MacGillvray palmed onto his own defender’s back.
In the second half, Pompey came forward but Posh survived the aerial assault.
RATINGS KEY: 10-Brilliant, 9-Outstanding, 8-Very good, 7-Good, 6-Okay, 5-Poor, 4-Very poor.
5.
NATHAN THOMPSON: Excellent performance at the back from the ex-Pompey man. Defended well and was Posh's main driving force out of the back in the second half. Showed all his experience to win free-kicks and run down the clock at the end. 8.
6.
JOE WARD: Has seen a dip in performances in recent weeks, looked to duck out of a few 50-50s in the first half. Unlucky not to have an assist though when Burrows couldn't tap home his teasing cross. 6.
7.
LOUIS REED: Difficult game for him with such a congested midfield as he likes time on the ball, a little slow with his passing at times and taken off for Mason to add presence in the midfield. 6. Photo: Midlands

REECE BROWN: Ran hard all game and you can tell he recognised the extra responsibility on him with Taylor and Hamilton not in the team. A few nice touches on a night Posh created little. 6.5.
