2014: PLAY-OFF GLOOM: The season after that traumatic relegation from the Championship Posh scrambled into the League One play-offs. Posh were unbeaten in play-off football at the time, but after a 1-1 semi-final draw at home to Leyton Orient, Posh went down 2-1 at Brisbane Road in the second leg. 1987: ADMINISTRATION. Posh were in terrible financial trouble for a fair bit of the 1980s and finally went into administration during the 1987-88 Fourth Division season with debts of £500k. This uncertainty hung over London Road for six months until Oxford-based businessman John Daveney (pictured) rode to the rescue. Photo: Midlands

1985: COBBLERS! Arch rivals Northampton Town were a decent Division Four side in the 1985-86 season so Posh goalkeeper John Turner's (pictured) second minute red card in the game at London Road wasn't helpful. No sub goalies in those days so defender Jimmy Holmes went between the sticks and Posh were thumped 5-0. Photo: Midlands

1990. LAST-DAY WOE. On the final day of the 1989-90 Fourth Division season Posh needed to beat Southend at London Road to reach the play-offs and the visitors needed to win to go up automatically. Posh didn't play well losing 2-1 with captain Mick Halsall (pictured) heading a consolation goal in the second-half.
