Peterborough United Women racking up impressive milestones as they surge up a National League table

Peterborough United Women are racking up the milestones as they continue their surge up the National Northern Premier Division table.

A 1-0 win at Hull City on Sunday was a third straight success on the day legendary skipper Keir Perkins made her 250th appearance for the club.

Jake Poole registered his 50th win as manager last weekend so now he’s up to 51 victories with this one courtesy of an Evie Driscoll-King header which moved Posh up to seventh in their first season at tier three level.

Posh are level on points with the team in fifth and a full eight points clear of the bottom two after ensuring Hull are rooted to the foot of the table.

Posh are next in action against Norwich City at PIMS Park on Wednesday, October 28.

Standings (all played 8): 1 Rugby Borough 21pts, 2 West Brom 18pts, 3 Huddersfield 17pts, 4 Stoke City 14pts, 5 Liverpool Feds 12pts, 6 Derby County 12pts, 7 POSH 12pts, 8 Norwich City 10pts, 9 Loughborough Lightning 7pts, 10 Boldmere St Michaels 6pts, 11 Middlesbrough 4pts, 12 Hull City 4pts.

Posh received a pre-match boost when Kayleigh Hines re-signed for the club. She was named among the substitutes and came on for the final 10 minutes to help see out an excellent win.

It was a cagey opening to the game with Posh ‘keeper Neive Corry called into early action before Perkins saw a fine strike deflected over the Hull crossbar.

Both side spurned headed chances in the opening 20 minutes with top scorer Ellie May the Posh culprit. Driscoll-King also nodded over the bar before May sent a volley in the same direction.

But the deadlock was broken on 56 minutes when Driscoll-King diverted a near post corner home with her head and the Posh defence then held firm to keep a clean sheet with Corry only called into serious action on one occasion.

Posh: Corry, Jenkins, Driscoll-King, Driscoll, Mears, Pitt, Bartlett(sub Hines, 81 mins), Wilshaw (sub Ganado, 72 mins), Brown (sub Steggles 81 mins), Perkins (sub Rai, 86 mins), May. Unused subs: Reynolds, Saunders, Osker.
