Peterborough United Under 21s got going far too late in their bid to claim top spot
Peterborough United got going far too late in their bid to reach the top of their Professional Development Under 21 League section.
A win against Hull City at the Bespoke Builds Training Ground on Tuesday afternoon would have taken Posh above long-time leaders Sheffield United on goal difference.

But the visiting Tigers were 3-0 up after half an hour and despite goals from Abraham Odoh and David Kamara in the final 20 minutes Posh couldn’t find an equaliser.
Harry Revill fired Hull in front on 12 minutes before Nathan Tinsdale and Pharrell Brown scored within four minutes of each other to put the visitors in complete control.
Patryk Skut had forced a decent save from Callum Yam before the break, but the half-time arrival of Kamara for Pemi Aderoju sparked a much better Posh performance.
Eddie Fox twice went close as did Sykut before Posh pulled a goal back on 70 minutes. Sykut delivered a shot against the post and Odoh was on hand to convert the rebound.
Posh enjoyed plenty of possession thereafter, but it took a penalty conversion from Kamara in the 90th minute to complete the scoring in a 3-2 defeat.
Posh had come back from 3-0 down to claim a point at Crewe Alexandra in their previous outing, but they couldn’t repeat their ‘Great Escape’ today.
Posh have another Under 21 League game at Sheffield Wednesday on Friday.
Posh: Smith, Freeman, Mendonca, Arber, Davies, Fox, Changunda, Sykut, Shofowoke, Aderoju (sub Kamara, 46 mins), Odoh. Unused Subs: Abbey, Bucknor, McWilliams-Marcano, Bushell.
Posh have a Professional Development Under 18 League game against Huddersfield Town at home on Saturday.
