But Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony has now confirmed winger Kyreece Lisbie will not be joining his twin brother Kyrell Lisbie at London Road.

Posh had declared an interest in the 22 year-old Colchester player, but MacAnthony took to social media to say: “Too expensive wages wise for our cap and now bigger clubs are in for him. That’s football. Move on and Next!”

Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield Town, Oxford United and Reading have all been linked with Lisbie.

Jones made seven appearances for Sunderland in all competitions after coming through the club’s Academy. He started two Championship games for the club in 2025.

He was on the first-team substitutes’ bench in a number of fixtures during 2026, including Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, and was a regular in the PL2 (Premier League 2) throughout last season.

Posh boss Luke Williams said: "Harrison is an ambitious and talented young player who has had a great start to his career at Sunderland by being in and around the first team for a couple of years.

"He had a lot of different options for the next stage of his career so we are delighted that he has chosen us and we are looking forward to working with him."

Jones added: "It has all happened quite quickly, but when I heard of the interest, it was definitely something that excited me.

"I have been at Sunderland since I was very young, so it was always going to be a difficult decision to leave, but I know that it was the right time to get out and play football.

"I would describe myself as a versatile midfielder as at Sunderland you are encouraged to play in different positions. They also taught me a lot about humility at Sunderland, I learned a lot from my time there.

"There are a lot of big clubs in League One, but we are a big club too and I can't wait to get started. It was really important to get things done before pre-season and now I can look forward to coming in and meeting everyone.”

Jones will be at the Fanzone Fun day on Saturday, July 4 (2pm-5pm) alongside the rest of the first team squad at the launch of the new Posh 2026/27 away shirt.
