Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has compared losing Kwame Poku to injury to Liverpool losing Mo Salah.

Poku hasn’t been seen in action since suffering a hamstring injury in the early stages of a 1-0 home defeat by Burton Albion on December 4. He had contributed 10 goals and seven assists in his 17 League One appearances before his injury.

Posh have picked up just nine points in the 11 games Poku has missed, but the 24 year-old is set to return earlier than expected.

MacAnthony, speaking on his ‘Hard Truth’ podcast, said: “Kwame is the best player in League One so of course we have missed him. We could well have won another 10 points if he’d been available, that’s how important he is to us. Losing Kwame is like Liverpool losing Salah.

"But Kwame is recovering quicker than we expected and he could be back in the third week of February.”

Posh are at Stevenage for a League One fixture on February 15 before finishing a run of four consecutive away games at Huddersfield in February 22.
