Peterborough United chairman issues transfer update on Garbett, Collins and Conn-Clarke, bad break for unwanted winger and a bid for a new number 6
Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has issued a transfer window update.
A relaxed and chipper MacAnthony sat down with club press officer Phil Adlam for a wide-ranging 33 minute interview which is available for free on the Posh Plus section of www.theposh.com.

The chairman, who will celebrate 20 years at the club in September, discussed selling Matty Garbett, the impact Archie Collins is still having on the club’s transfer business, Chris Conn-Clarke’s immediate future, a bad break for another transfer listed player, a recent bid for a new midfielder and Premier League loans.
MacAnthony said: “We’ve done some good business already, but there is more to do. Stevie Wonder could see what we need which is a 6 and more wingers. We need one and we we might need two. We will remain active throughout the transfer window ourselves which doesn’t mean we will be signing 10 players on deadline day.

"The average number of signings for League One clubs this summer is four and we have done five. Most clubs are resetting because of salary caps and the fact Archie Collins hasn’t found a new club yet is affecting ours. We have to pay him until the end of July if he doesn’t find a new club before then and he’s the highest paid player at the club.
"I thought he would have signed somewhere by now as his agent told me there were many clubs after him. This is not a dig at Archie either.
"We did think we would sell Matt Garbett for £3 million straight after the World Cup Finals, but his injury messed that up and I was gutted for him. He’s in New Zealand getting treatment and we believe he could be back after the first international break in September.
"Clubs are still negotiating with us for Matty because of when he will be back so a deal could yet be done, but if he stays then we will get him fit and playing for us. I fancy we will see him in the Championship though.

"The manager isn’t one who pesters me for new players. He wants to improve the ones he already has and he’s been raving about Chris Conn-Clarke who has returned in great shape. We’ve been here before with Chris, but if he can do a ‘Joel Randall’ and come good after a couple of poor seasons he will get his chance.
"Players have left already and we have let a couple leave on loan. We believe Pemi Aderoju’s move to Crawley will be great for him. We still believe in Pemi, and Brad Ihionvien’s move to Colchester will get him going as well.
"Others will go, but I don’t believe people know that Declan Frith broke his ankle while training on his own before everyone returned for pre-season so he will be out for a while. We’re hoping he will be back before the transfer window closes.
"We have had a recruitment team meeting in Spain. We made a bid for a midfielder on Thursday and we've been offered many Premier League players on loan because of what we did for Jimmy-Jay Morgan last season. I don’t want to loan unless it’s a last resort. Chelsea made millions out of JJ and we made nothing despite doing plenty for him.
"We want players to come here with two things in mind, to do well for the club and to help us win a promotion. Then they can see what comes from it for them. We want them to join our legends wall, by spending time and winning things here rather than spending just five minutes with us.”
Posh winger Kyrell Lisbie has been linked with a move to Championship club Millwall.
Garbett damaged his hamstring in training ahead of New Zealand’s opening World Cup Finals match.
The other transfer listed Posh players still are London Road are Klaidi Lolos, George Nevett and Donay O’Brien Brady. Centre-back Nevett is in Spain withe the first team squad.
Forward Morgan has made a permanent move from Chelsea to Championship club West Bromwich Albion
