New Peterborough United striker believes he is at the perfect place to develop his promising career

New Peterborough United striker Danny Ormerod believes he is at the perfect place to develop his promising career.

Following the confirmation of his £600k move from National League AFC Fylde on Wednesday evening, the 20 year-old met his new teammates on Thursday morning before an interview with the Posh media team.

And in an interesting twist of fate, Ormerod could make his debut in a League One game at Blackpool, the club that released him as a teenager.

"The transfer talk had been going on for quite a bit so I’m absolutely buzzing to be here,” Ormerod said. “This is the place to be for young strikers. It’s the club I wanted to join as I know what they do for young players.

“I had quite a decent season last season and it was good to know Peterborough and a few other clubs wanted me, but they were my first choice straight away especially as I’ve heard the gaffer is amazing.

"Fylde is such a good club and I clicked under the gaffer there last season. We had a good team and I managed 32 goals which is the best of my career, but I hope there are many more good ones to come.

"I was going into every game with confidence last season and I want to bring that here. I like to score goals. I’m happy to run around and link up play as well, but I love scoring all types of goal. I met all the players today. It was a bit overwhelming as I’d only ever moved on on loan to Chorley before, but they were all really good with me.

“The gaffer has a really good style of football here. I just want to get on the training pitch, plays loads of games and help the team as much as I can. Harry Leonard is such a good player and he’s flying so I can learn from him.

"I’m from Blackpool who let me go when I was 15/16 so it would be nice to get a goal there.”
