Posh team news
Christy Pym, Dan Butler, Mark Beevers, Frankie Kent, Nathan Thompson, Josh Knight, Jorge Grant, Joe Tomlinson, Joe Ward, Sammie Szmodics, JCH (4-2-3-1)
Subs: David Cornell, Ronnie Edwards, Harrison Burrows, Ricky-Jade Jones, Idris Kanu, Ethan Hamilton, Joel Randall
Do you agree with Swanny’s suggested line up?
A few ruthless calls in there, not least leaving out the club captain but with the emergence of Edwards and the signing of Knight, he could have a fight on his hands for his place this season.
The line-up
Posh switched between a back three in pre-season and in the final meaningful match against Portsmouth it was the switch to a three that provided Posh with their best spell of what was a pitiful performance. Will that swing things? The 3-4-1-2 looks to be the formation Posh will favour in the long term given there is both Clarke-Harris and Marriott to fit into the team but with neither even having achieved 60 minutes in pre-season, will both or any be risked from the start?
Elsewhere, Taylor should line-up after getting the all clear from a scan on his hamstring and we could see the debut of million pound man Joel Randall.
Luton’s summer business
It’s been a summer of upheaval of Luton. Many fans were disappointed to see star names James Collins and Matty Pearson leave but in my opinion Luton have made some good additions to cover those.
Reece Burke impressed for Hull as the pipped Posh for the title, Carlos Mendez Gomes was Morecambe’s creative spark as they won an unlikely promotion from League Two and Lansbury, Bell and Onyendinma have plenty of experience and quality between them. Allan Campbell was also a one-time rumoured Posh target.
Luton’s success at this level (third year) is exactly the blueprint Posh are hoping to follow so a very good test to start with.

The man in the middle
After a late change this week, it is now Andy Woolmer that will referee this match. The ref from Northampton last took charge of a Posh match in February when they won 3-0 at home to Wimbledon. He sent off just one player in 31 matches last season.
Here we go....
It may still feel like Jonson Clarke Harris’ penalty against Lincoln was only yesterday but the season has come around again and the day Posh fans have been waiting eight years for is here at last. Posh begin their journey back in the Championship away at Luton today and join us here for all of the updates.
