Biggest test of the summer for Peterborough United who could have injured players back

Peterborough United face their biggest test of pre-season when Championship side West Bromwich Albion visit the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday (August 1, 3pm kick off).

‘The Baggies’ have enjoyed some comfortable friendly wins this summer with former Posh star Jimmy-Jay Morgan in great form following his move from Chelsea.

Morgan, who scored 14 goals for Posh during a season-long loan from Stamford Bridge, has scored four goals in pre-season including two in a 4-1 win at League Two Shrewsbury last weekend.

Posh have also been in decent form with three wins, a draw and a defeat in their five senior games. They won 2-1 at League Two York City on Tuesday night with goals from Brandon Khela and James Dornelly.

Posh boss Luke Williams has suggested long-term injury victims Sam Hughes and Tom O’Connor could be involved tomorrow, but winger Declan Frith and full-back Rio Adebisi will again be absent.

Posh are likely to play their strongest current side for most of the game as the competitive season kicks off with a Carabao Cup tie at Bristol Rovers on Saturday, August 8.

Unless new arrivals appear in the next 24 hours, Posh could field the following starting line-up….

Bass

Dornelly, Mendonca, Okagbue, Weir.

Johnston, Khela, Woods.

Edwards, Leonard, Shofowoke.
