One player stays and will receive a testimonial, but two others have left Peterborough Phantoms

Peterborough Phantoms defenceman Callum Buglass will be granted a testimonial after signing on at Planet Ice for another two seasons.

But forward Jasper Foster has left Phantoms after four years, 200 appearances and 70 points with National League rivals Bristol a possible destination. Defenceman Nojus Venskutonis has also left the club and is expected to join divisional rivals Romford Raiders.

After three years in Swindon and a year with the Cardiff Fire, Buglass joined Phantoms ahead of the 2018/19 season and has remained with the club ever since.

He’s comfortably surpassed 100 points in Phantoms colours and has proven to be a reliable part of the team’s defensive unit.

Buglass told the club website: “I’m delighted to have signed again. It was a big decision to make this summer taking into account the birth of my daughter and my demanding job away from hockey.

"To end last season with an injury and so have to watch from the bench was extremely frustrating, but I can’t thank the club enough for everything they have done. I’m extremely happy to have signed for 2 years, and, I’m very grateful to be awarded a testimonial at the end of it. There’s no place I’d rather play.”

Phantoms head coach, Ashley Tait, added: “Callum is an integral part of this team and his signature is a massive step to keeping our D core together. He’s always calm, makes the right decisions and just comes in and gets on with it.

"It’s also good to see a player who has given so much for this team, for so long, awarded with a testimonial game. It’s richly deserved for his commitment to this club.”

The testimonial will take place around the end of the 2027/28 season, following the completion of his 10th year as a Phantom.
