Guard of honour for Peterborough Sports star to recognise 10 years at the club
Long-serving Peterborough Sports player Mark Jones received a guard of honour before the last National League North game of the season at PIMS Park on Saturday.
Players from Sports and visitors AFC Telford United applauded centre forward Jones on to the pitch to recognise his 10 years at the club.

Sports had already been relegated from the division after four years competing against the odds. Jones played 90 minutes in a game Sports lost 3-2.
Sports manager Michael Gash told Peterborough Community Radio: “Mark Jones has been sensational for this club, He’s a player you’d want in your team every game. He always gives 100 percent even when he’s not playing at his best.
"His longevity speaks for itself. He’s scored goals and he’s won multiple promotions and yet he’s so humble in everything he does. He deserves all the applause and praise he gets.
"He has a demanding job outside of football which often involves early starts and late finishes. He’s also got a young family, but he always turns up for training. Mark has been a great teammate of mine and a great servant for the football club.”
Kaine Felix gave Sports an early lead against Telford and Max Booth scored a consolation goal late in the game.
"We were the better team in the first-half,” Gash said. “But we switched off a bit in the second-half.”
Next-to-bottom Sports have two games to play, starting at Worksop next Saturday.
