Barnack topple the leaders, Ramsey rip up formbook again, Bourne maintain title challenge, Aussie stars for Newborough
Barnack knocked title favourites Godmanchester off the top of Cambs Premier Division Two with a convincing 60-run win at ‘The Parks.’
The villagers were indebted to opener Shehzad Akhter (68) for a challenging team total of 252 and then discovered an unlikely bowling hero in the ranks.

Asim Butt has been one of the local area’s greatest batsmen for a couple of decades, but one who dabbles only occasionally with his off-spin. But, after scoring a modest 23, he bagged 5-40 in 10 overs as Godmanchester were dismissed for 192.
Barnack are third, but a long way from the top two with Kimbolton now overhauling Godmanchester at the summit.
In Premier Division One Gary Freear and Naveen Fernando both picked up three wickets before cracking 50s in a five-wicket win over Saffron Walden at Harecroft Road. The pair put on 116 for the first wicket as Wisbech, who are now fifth, set off in pursuit of 260-9.
Ramsey ripped the formbook up for the second week in a row in the East Anglian Premier League. Fresh from becoming the first team to topple leaders Horsford, Ramsey saw off Mildenhall, who had started the day in second place, by 77 runs at Cricketfield Lane.
In form Sandun Weerakkody (89) and Mark Saunders (50) scored best in Ramsey’s 261-9 before Saunders (4-34) also shone with the ball.
Dan Freeman (126 not out at a run-a-ball) and Archie Stroud (98) shared a 220-run fourth wicket stand as Bourne kept the pressure on Lincs Premier Division leaders Scunthorpe with a 35-run win at Burghley Park. Bourne had been 20-3, but finished on 274-5.
Raiffe Headley (3-49) took those three early Bourne wickets and also top scored with 87 in Burghley’s 239 all out. Dylan Parker contributed 57 as the home side recovered from 53-5. Kiwi Ray Toole and Ruben Baker collected three wickets apiece for Bourne.
Aussie Jack Stokes cracked an undefeated 120 (111 balls, 18 4s) as Newborough won their Championship South fixture at Moulton Harrox by eight wickets and Ryan Evans (62no) impressed as Castor beat Woodhall Spa seconds by five wickets in Division One South.
