As part of the project, Horsey Toll Bridge will be widened and a new turning lane will be installed from the A605 to help ease congestion.

Before the project starts, a temporary access road will be constructed from the A605, close to the existing carriageway, to reduce the road closures on Milk and Water Drove (B1095).

The installation of the temporary access road will start next week (21 September) and is expected to be completed in October. The work will be carried out between Monday to Friday and 7:30am to 5pm.

When the project starts, traffic will be able to travel south on Milk and Water Drove from the A605, but not northwards to the A605. Diversion routes will be fully signposted.

Councillor Peter Hiller, cabinet member for strategic planning, commercial strategy and investment at Peterborough City Council, said, “I am pleased to see the preparation work for the highway improvements on Horsey Toll Bridge and along the B1095 will start next week. The temporary access road will reduce the number of road closures needed when the project starts, but people are urged to plan their journeys and bear with us while we carry out the work.”

“We have also been working and co-ordinating with the King’s Dyke contractor to try and minimise disruption.”

The widening of the bridge and the installation of the turning lane is anticipated to be completed by Summer 2021.
