With public bodies having seen their funding cut, the vast majority continue to raise their council tax precepts to try and plug the gap, or to increase their investment. Ahead of the new financial year, we list the percentages council tax precepts are going up by. This list does not include town or parish councils.
1. Peterborough City Council
4% rise, which includes two per cent ringfenced for adult social care. Band D taxpayers will see a rise of nearly £55 a year on their bill
2. Huntingdonshire District Council
A rise of 2.6 per cent. A Band D property will pay 3.70 more to the council for a total of £146 for the year
3. Cambridgeshire County Council
A rise of 3.59 per cent, with two per cent ringfenced for adult social care. The change will add £47.07 for the year to the average property (Band D), seeing the cost owed to the council rise from £1,312.11 to £1,359.18
