Plans for 180 new homes at Hampton Woods

Initial plans have been put forward for new homes on the outskirts of Peterborough.

O&H Properties Ltd submitted an outline planning application to Peterborough City Council for the construction of 180 new homes with associated landscape, open space and infrastructure at Hampton Woods.

The proposed site forms part of the wider Hampton and Hampton East Urban Extension, a large settlement located south of Peterborough which will provide upwards of 5,000 homes.

Vehicle access to the site would be via the primary road connecting to the existing Persimmon development.

A shared pedestrian and cycleway would be provided as part of the development, as well as an additional path into the future Hampton Country Park.

There would also be a new village green with a children’s play area.

According to the plans, building heights would be between two and three storeys across the application site.

A planning statement reads: “The design parameters and guidelines of the proposed development will positively contribute to the character and appearance of the area, as well as relate well to the principles of the Hampton East Urban Extension outline permission.

“Significant design work has been undertaken on the proposed development, to ensure that it aligns with the responses received at the pre-application stage, and represents a high-quality design which optimises the site.”

If approved by city council planners, further detailed designs of the scheme would be put forward as part of a reserved matters application.

There are more than 500 homes that have full permission for the Hampton Woods area.

“Hampton Woods is envisioned as a distinctive and accessible continuation of the wider Hampton community, shaped by its strong relationship with the surrounding landscape and natural features; framed by woodland, Beeby’s East Lake and green spaces,” a design and access statement reads.
