Peterborough mum tells of her 'constant worry' after son (18) was injured in quad bike crash in Greece
A mum whose son was left fighting for his life after a quad bike accident in Greece has spoken of her constant worry as the youngster makes a painful recovery.
Kayley Posnett, of Werrington, says her 18-year-old son Alfie is still struggling to stand up and to walk nearly six weeks after his horrific accident in which he suffered 12 fractured vertebrae, 11 broken ribs and a punctured lung during a €50 quad bike ride in Greece,.
She said: “I am constantly worried about him.
"He is in lots of pain, he can barely walk and he cannot stand up for very long.

"I am thankful that surgery on his back has now been ruled out but it is still going to be a long process to get back to how he used to be.
"He is going to need a lot of physiotherapy but at the moment we are letting his bones heal.
She added: “I am just thankful he was wearing a helmet while on the quad bike.”
Alfie was left fighting for his life after the accident that occurred on June 15 during his first lads’ holiday to Greece to celebrate turning 18.

He was riding at around 40mph when the crash happened after he clipped a raised edge on the road and was thrown from the vehicle.
He was taken to the Zakynthos hospital where medics had to ‘stabilise’ him because he nearly died.
Two weeks later, and strapped to a stretcher, Alfie was flown back to the UK where it had been feared he would need surgery on his back.

Alfie’s aunt Holli set up a Gofundme page after it was realised that Alfie’s holiday insurance did not cover quad bike accidents. The appeal has raised £41,750 in just a few weeks.
Kayley said: “It is quite emotional for us realising how much people care.
"Every time I go outside someone will ask after Alfie. The generosity of everyone is wonderful and amazing.”
But for Alfie, a keen footballer and golfer, who had spent the last year as a bricklayer’s apprentice, the recovery process is a tedious as well as painful experience.
Kayley said: “He is only 18 and he really wants to be out with friends or go to the gym. So he does finds it all a bit boring.
"I’m hoping I can take him and his brother Charlie away soon for a short holiday.”
