Peterborough teen left fighting for life after quad bike crash in Greece could soon be flown home
A Peterborough teenager who was left fighting for his life after a quad bike accident in Greece could soon be flown home .
The family of Alfie Moses (18) are hoping the young man will be flown back to Heathrow Airport tomorrow (June 26) to be taken by medics to Peterborough City Hospital and is expected to undergo back surgery at some point.
His aunt, Holli Posnett, said: “It is fantastic news.
"Ten days ago Alfie was fighting for his life.

"There is still a long way to go for him but it is wonderful that it looks like he is pulling through
"The doctors are so happy with his progress that they are letting him go home.”
She said that Alfie, who suffered 12 fractured vertebrae, 11 broken ribs and a punctured lung during a €50 quad bike ride in Greece, would be on a stretcher and accompanied by a medic on the trip from Athens, where he is currently in hospital.
Alfie Moses was in Zante with six friends on his first lads’ holiday to celebrate turning 18 when the accident happened on Monday, June 15.

His mother Kayley Posnett, who is by her son’s bedside, has previously told the Peterborough Telegraph that Alfie was riding at around 40mph when the crash happened after he clipped a raised edge on the road and was thrown from the vehicle. .
She said: “He was taken to the Zakynthos hospital, and they stabilised him because he nearly died.”
Holiday insurance did not cover quad bike accidents
Alfie’s aunt Holli, who is landlady of the Butcher’s Arms in Werrington, said the family had set up a gofund.me page after it was realised that Alfie’s holiday insurance did not cover quad bike accidents.
She said: “People should be made aware this is the case, especially as quad bike riding will be attractive to so many young men."
Holli said the cost of medical treatment and care were ‘significant’ with the bills increasing every day.
The cost of being in hospital in Athens is about £1,500 a day with the cost of the flight back to the UK plus the medical provision expected to total about £22,000.
Holli said she has various plans for fund-raising in the pub.
Her father, Adrian Posnet, managing director of Oakham Ales, based in Maxwell Road, Woodston, who is Alfie’s grandfather, said that sales in the Butcher’s Arms of a seasonal beer can be used to raise funds for the teenager’s care.
Mr Posnett said: “We are donating a seasonal beer to be sold at The Butcher’s Arms in Werrington with the proceeds all going to Alfie’s gofund.me fund..
"I hope the beer will be on sale very soon – hopefully to coincide with the Werrington Carnival on Saturday.”
