Never in stout! Peterborough Beer Festival still pulling pints despite thunderstorms and heavy rain
Organisers have confirmed that it’s all systems go
Peterborough Beer Festival is open as normal today (Thursday, August 27) despite the city experiencing thunderstorms and heavy rain.
Organisers have confirmed that the festival opened as planned at 12pm, with today’s proceedings unaffected by the adverse weather.
Steve Dunkley, one of the festival’s organisers, told the Peterborough Telegraph: “We got used to this back in the ‘90s and we’ve had great weather since then. We’re capable of keeping going and having fun no matter what the weather throws at us.

"The weather doesn’t affect us. Come on down – there’s lots of indoor seating.”
The same cannot be said for the Peterborough Family Festival, which has been cancelled in light of today’s adverse weather.
The event was due to take place at the Athletics Track between 10am and 2pm today (Thursday, August 27).
A Peterborough City Council spokesperson said: “We’re really sorry to let families know that, due to the continued forecast for heavy rain and thunderstorms, we have had to cancel today’s planned Family Festival activities."
Peterborough remains under a yellow Met Office warning for thunderstorms until 10pm tonight.
Some city streets have suffered flooding after the heavens opened at around 10am.
The storms are predicted to have cleared northwards by 5pm, according to BBC Weather.
