Ground-breaking project features in Peterborough exhibition
An exhibition chronicling the achievements and impact of a five-year project at Ferry Meadows has opened at Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery.
‘Your Community Greenspace: The Whole Story’ exhibition is running until November 21 in the Community Gallery of the Museum and is open to all.
Visitors are invited to go along and find out more about what has been achieved by this ground-breaking project, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. There are information display boards, a celebration video playing on a loop and the opportunity for visitors to leave their feedback.
The five-year project set out to make Ferry Meadows a more inclusive hub for the many communities of Peterborough and the impact is clear to see. Through the project, Nene Park Trust has made infrastructure and access improvements including an enhanced welcome area and new bridge; hosted cultural and community events and offered a welcoming space for communities to hold their own events; funded school visits; created new volunteer roles and set up new opportunities for health and wellbeing activities.

Lindsey Holmes, Project Manager for the project, said, “This exhibition is the culmination of an amazing five-year project, which has made a huge impact on how we do things at Nene Park Trust. We set out to make Ferry Meadows a more inclusive hub and have worked with many different communities across Peterborough, encouraging them to come to the Park and feel at home in our green spaces.
"We have welcomed school groups, young people and new volunteers and have encouraged health and wellbeing with our activities such as Tai Chi and Try Running. I am very proud of what everyone involved has achieved through this project and it’s great to see everyone’s passion and hard work summarised and celebrated in this wonderful, colourful exhibition at the Museum.”
The exhibition can be found in the Community Gallery at Peterborough Museum and accessed during Museum opening hours. Find out details of Peterborough Museum at https://peterboroughmuseum.org.uk/
